Paediatric First Aid for Little Cherubs Nursery Staff

Keeping children safe is every parent and carer’s priority. Paediatric first aid courses equip staff with essential skills to handle emergencies. Recently, Allan delivered a paediatric first aid course to the Little Cherubs Nursery staff from Morecambe and a nanny from Formby.

Course Highlights

The training began with a focus on childhood illnesses, including meningitis, asthma, epilepsy, and diabetes. Allan explained the safe use and storage of medication in a nursery setting. Participants practised bandaging using Allan’s well-known props.

Hands on Practice

After lunch, the group practised casualty evaluations and placed each other in a safe airway position. They then moved on to CPR practice using Allan’s variety of dummies. This included adult, child, and baby dummies, and even a bariatric dummy.

Allan introduced six different defibrillators, allowing staff to gain hands-on experience. The session ended with a discussion on mental health after administering first aid, highlighting its importance.
